There a quite a few vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Lisbon and I didn’t have time to try all of them, but I found my favorite places. I ate one of the best meals I’ve ever had and found a restaurant which was so good that I would travel back to Lisbon just to eat there again. Here are my favorites:
Jardim das Cerejas (Calcada do Sacramento 36)
This restaurant offers a fully vegan buffet. The price for lunch is only 7,5€, and you can eat as much as you want. The dinner buffet is two euros more expensive, but I never went there for a dinner because there are so many other vegan restaurants for dinner. But for lunch, this place is perfect! You have to pay extra for drinks, but I really recommend you to try their fresh juices. The place can be busy at lunch time, so if you are coming with a group of people, you may have to wait. But it is worth waiting for, and I promise you that you will be so full after eating there that you have to roll back to your hostel! Or maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this every time I eat at a vegan buffet.
Ao26 Vegan Food Project (Rua Vitor Cordon 26)
This place… I have no words. This is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. I have no words to describe how good the food tasted; you just have to try it yourself. Ao26 is more like a fine dining restaurant, but with low prices. They have a regular menu and also daily specialties. On my first night there I tried their daily special, and on my second night, I tried seitan steak from the menu. I haven’t eaten meat for over ten years, but the seitan steak tasted so authentic that I’m sure it could fool many meat-eaters! Have a look at the picture above, doesn’t it look like real meat?? The sauce tasted like real butter, and the steak also came with fries and salad. The desserts are to die for; I tried a chocolate mousse and cheesecake. Ao26 is a popular spot, so I recommend making a reservation. However, if you are coming alone, you’ll be fine because they have a single’s table.
The Food Temple (Beco de Jasmim 18)
This restaurant was the first fully vegan restaurant in Lisbon, so of course, I had to try it. I went there on my first night without any reservation, and there were already people waiting outside. I was told that I need a reservation, so I made it for the next evening. So if you are planning to eat there, make a reservation! Otherwise, you won’t get a seat. The place is small and homely with communal seating, and I had interesting conversations with people sitting next to me. The menu changes daily, and at the time I went there, they only had one option for the main course, which was some kind of couscous dish. I wished there were more options. The food was tasty, but I was expecting more because of the price (11€). Because I only ate there once, I have no clue what other options they usually have. If you have been there, leave a comment below!

I also visited these three restaurants when I recently visited Lisbon! I agree that The Food Temple was lacking options, and I found the portions to be fairly small. That steak from Ao26 was incredible!!
I still miss the food Ao26! I could travel to Lisbon just to eat there again 😀
