I haven’t really done a proper introduction yet so let’s get started now. I was in such a rush when I started this blog. I wrote the first blog post on the same day I was supposed to fly out of my home country, so I didn’t really have time to write a long post.
MY LIFE BEFORE I STARTED TRAVELING FULL-TIME
I finished my Bachelor’s degree last June after battling with motivation problems and my busy schedule. My life was extremely hectic and stressful because I worked full-time while I was studying. Sometimes I had even three different jobs, and I never got enough sleep. In a worst case scenario, I was working in a bar until 5 am and I had to wake up at 7 am for Uni or another job. On the weekends I always worked on Friday and Saturday night and went to another job in the morning.
You’re probably wondering why the hell did I work so much while studying? The reason is that I lived in an expensive city, owned an apartment and because of my work I also needed to have a car. The vicious circle was ready, and I was just dying to break it.
Travelling was always a getaway for me. I worked around-the-clock for nine months and then went backpacking for three months. Coming home after traveling started to get harder and harder after each trip. I was always depressed when I came back home and didn’t feel like leaving my apartment for weeks. One reason for that was probably the freezing cold weather, rain, and darkness in my home country. The weather just wasn’t for me, as I’ve always loved the sun and heat.
Finally this summer I decided to end the rat race. I sold my apartment, car and all of my belongings. Now everything I own fits in a 55 l backpack and I’m free to do whatever I want to and go wherever I want to. Of course, I’m going to run out of my savings eventually even though I’m always traveling on a tight budget. I’m looking for options to make money on the road.
WHAT I LIKE TO DO BESIDES TRAVELING
Back home I used to go to the gym a lot, and I also enjoyed mountain biking. When I’m traveling, I still like to work out, but it’s mainly just doing cardio. I’ve also fallen in love with surfing, and I’m really hoping to get better at it.
I’m a vegan and a food lover. I love to try new vegan foods and restaurants while I’m traveling and I will definitely write more tips for vegan travel and review restaurants. I’ve added a vegan travel category where you check out all the upcoming posts.
Photography is an important hobby for me, and I’ll post some of my shots here. You can also follow me on Instagram. I used to have a Nikon DSLR, but a year ago I sold it and all my lenses. Now I’m using Sony A7 which is much lighter, and the image quality is fantastic.
I also enjoy writing and reading. I always have at least one book with me when I’m traveling. At the moment I’m reading J.K. Rowling’s book The Casual Vacancy. I’ve always loved to write, but this is my first time writing a public blog. All ideas and tips are welcome!
