I spent a few nights in Lagos, Portugal, a charming seaside town that’s popular among tourists. Although I visited during the low season, the streets were still lively—especially with travelers from Germany.

When it comes to vegan options, Lagos isn’t exactly a plant-based paradise. There are no fully vegan restaurants, but you’ll find a few vegetarian spots, along with plenty of Indian and Chinese eateries that offer some vegan-friendly dishes.
Restaurants
Estudio Vegetariano, Rua da Oliveira 30

This was hands down the best vegetarian restaurant in town. I had dinner here once and ordered their daily special—a delicious pasta with red pesto. I also tried one of their fresh juices, though honestly, it was so beautifully presented it felt more like a mocktail. Everything was flavorful, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff spoke excellent English. I just wish I had discovered this place earlier instead of on my last night—I would’ve happily gone back.

One of the vegetarian restaurants in Lagos also doubles as a guesthouse, making it the perfect place for vegan or health-conscious travelers to stay. Their cuisine is international, vegetarian, and made from local, organic ingredients. In addition to meals, they offer yoga and Pilates classes, workshops, and retreats. It’s a peaceful oasis for anyone looking to unwind and eat well.

Other restaurant options
Dynasty, Rua 25 de Abril 21
This is a Chinese restaurant with a couple of vegan options. The food wasn’t anything memorable, but at least they offered tofu dishes.
Indian restaurants
There are several Indian restaurants around town, and many of them offer vegan options or are willing to adapt dishes to suit a vegan diet.
Pizza

You’ll find plenty of places serving pizza. Just ask for a vegetarian pizza without cheese—most places are happy to accommodate.
Supermarkets
Even the smaller supermarkets in Lagos carry some basic vegan products like soy milk, plant-based yogurt, and occasionally tofu. So, if you’re self-catering or just want to stock up on essentials, you’ll be able to find what you need without too much trouble.
Lagos may not be the most vegan-friendly destination, but with a little flexibility and creativity, you can still eat well and enjoy this beautiful coastal town!
